Samsung is finally boosting charging speeds on its flagship after years of complaints. According to tipster Ice Universe, the Galaxy S26 Ultra will support 60W wired fast charging, confirmed by China 3C certification for model SM-S9480. This marks a meaningful upgrade from the S25 Ultra’s 45W cap.
That slower speed has frustrated users since the S22 Ultra launched in 2022. Tipsters claim the phone could hit 75% battery in just 30 minutes under ideal conditions. Samsung is now selling a matching 60W PD 3.1 adapter to support the new speeds.
Earlier leaks hinted at this upgrade, with One UI 8.5 firmware builds backing the claim. Testing from Ice Universe shows sustained speeds without early throttling. Samsung is branding this “Super Fast Charging 3.0,” promising quicker top-ups without needing bigger batteries.
The S26 Ultra will likely stick to around 5,000-5,200mAh capacity, similar to the S25 Ultra. Real-world gains should feel noticeable. You’re looking at 0-50% charging in roughly 20 minutes compared to 30+ minutes on the current model. Perfect for quick coffee-break charges when you’re rushing out the door.
Finally Catching Up to Rivals
While 60W is a solid improvement for Samsung, it still trails brands like Xiaomi and OnePlus. Those companies have been offering 100W+ charging for years. However, Samsung previously stuck with conservative charging due to battery safety concerns.
The Note 7 disaster taught them to prioritize long-term battery health over speed records. The Galaxy S26 Ultra 60W charging closes the gap modestly for daily users who value slim design over maximum speed.
Wireless charging also gets a bump with Qi2.2 at 25W for the Ultra. It features built-in magnets for better alignment similar to MagSafe. The S26 and S26+ reportedly get 20W wireless speeds. Samsung’s new 60W charger is already listed for sale, likely standardizing across the S26 series.
The Ultra gets 60W, the Plus gets 45W, and the base model gets 25W. The full charge still takes around 50 minutes, so this feels faster without the heat or bloat risks of extreme fast charging. Unpacked is expected in late January or early February 2026. Satellite connectivity is also teased in certifications.
