This 1970 Oldsmobile 442 convertible underwent a cosmetic and mechanical refurbishment just after the seller’s acquisition in 2007. The blue convertible body is complemented with a white convertible top and stripes, and the cabin is outfitted with Ivory vinyl upholstery, faux woodgrain trim, a Custom Sport steering wheel, air conditioning, an AM/FM radio, and power windows. The overhauled drivetrain is comprised of a 455ci Rocket V8, a three-speed Turbo Hydramatic transmission, and a 12-bolt limited-slip differential, and further equipment includes 14″ Super Sport I wheels, close-ratio power steering, a dual exhaust system, and power front disc brakes. The car left the factory finished in Astro Blue (25) with a white (A) convertible top, and it was refinished in 2008. The washer pump, core support, hood moldings, lenses, emblems, and various trim pieces were replaced during the refurbishment, per the seller. Details include white stripes, a white vinyl boot cover, and trumpet-style exhaust finishers.
Super Stock I 14″ wheels are mounted with Firestone Wide Oval white-letter tires, and a matching spare is stowed in the trunk. The car is equipped with a fast-ratio power steering box, according to the seller. The power-assisted disc/drum brake setup is said to be equipped with a rebuilt booster and factory-style lines.
The front bucket seats, rear bench, and door panels are upholstered in Ivory vinyl, while black carpets line the floors. The trunk compartment received replacement panels and hardware during the refurbishment. Interior appointments include a center console, an AM/FM radio, power windows, a power trunk release in the glovebox, and air conditioning.
The Custom Sport steering wheel sits on a tilting column ahead of Rally Pac instrumentation, and woodgrain trim accents the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 86k miles, approximately 100 of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
Refurbishment work on the 455ci Rocket V8 included reconditioning the block, honing the cylinders, machining the crankshaft, and replacing the bearings, air cleaner assembly, and other components, per the seller. The radiator has been re-cored, and an aluminized exhaust system is said to have been installed.
The seller tells us the three-speed Turbo Hydramatic transmission and 12-bolt limited-slip differential were overhauled during the refurbishment, and the transmission cooler and modulator lines were replaced. The refreshed fuel system features a factory-style tank and a replacement pad, hoses, and fittings.
